- The way to reduce the rate of incoming characters is to reduce your serial
- port speed setting in your communications program. You can also cause the
- modem to release the characters steadily in stead of in bunches (which may
- reduce overruns). Also, do not use disk cache software or 'block mode'
- (multi-sector transfers). Beware of device drivers; comment out as many of
- them as you can to see if they have an effect.
